"In 2000 our fertilizer building burned down. Shortly after the fire, we contacted Ranco Fertiservice. This proved to be one of the best decisions that we made.

Ranco asked us what our goals were for both storage capacity and blending capacity. They used our actual blends to design the blend system specifically for our business. 

The Ranco sales and design teams also provided us building dimensions to help ensure that we would have the storage capacity that we were targeting. The building dimensions and design were extremely useful when it came to locating a contractor and getting competitive bids. Ranco engineers worked closely with our contractor to help insure the project was timely. We knew from the beginning that the building would be designed appropriately for the fertilizer storage application.

Since we installed the equipment in 2001 we have had very few serious problems or issues. But when we have had an issue, Ranco’s response is immediate and effective. Their parts and service department is second to none in getting us the parts we need quickly.

Dunkerton Cooperative had been working out of their old fertilizer plant for about 35 years and decided it was time to update to a new plant.  The old plant was a 3,000 ton plant with a Waconia mix tower system that was the same age as the plant. A Ranco volumetric blender was added to supplement mixing capacity in 1987. 

In 2009 a new 12,000 ton plant was built by Marcus Construction and Ranco was selected to supply the equipment. We have the ability to unload rail or truck at a rate of 400 Ton/hr.  On the mixing side we have a 4-bin 250 Ton/hr declining weight mixing system.  We also put up 4-30 ton load out bins that allow us to premix ahead of time to greatly speed up the truck loading process. We have the ability to load straight product or blended semi loads in a very timely manner.  Our computer system is automated by Kahler Automation and does a fast and efficient job of making fertilizer loads with very little waiting.  It’s a system that will allow us to expand the storage space by double and still use the same mixing equipment.  We are very happy with the performance and service that we have received from Ranco and their employees.

We installed a new Ranco DW Blender at our Umatilla OR location in the Fall of ’09 and it has worked flawlessly since the first time we used it.  The Ranco crew that installed the new blender did the work quickly and with great skill.  They showed up with everything they needed to do the job and easily hit their deadline.  The blender worked perfect at the first startup.

The speed and accuracy of the DW Blender is amazing, we have sped up the daily load totals by hitting the amount we want in every truck load and not having to “check weigh” the truck before starting the next truck.  The new DW Blender has also helped our inventory control considerably by loading accurate amounts of each product in the blend.

I am very pleased with the service I get from Ranco, all of their employees are very knowledgeable about their products and they produce a very good blender.
